The snappy cast is back for a season that’s “bigger and more twisted” than your darkest dreams.
Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) doesn’t have the time in her busy schedule to make your eyes bleed — just yet. She’s way too busy reading Thing (Victor Dorobantu) a chilling bedtime story (just watch the clip below for your own nightmare fuel). Still, Nevermore’s most determined teen detective can give you a sneak peek behind the scenes of Wednesday Season 2, which began filming in Ireland earlier this year. A Geeked Week 2024 video promises a ghoulish ride ahead. As if Wednesday would accept anything less.
Cast members Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), and Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams) all appear in the featurette above, as well as director and executive producer Tim Burton. “This season is going to be bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine,” Zeta-Jones guarantees in the behind-the-scenes video above, as we see cast and crew buzzing around the busy Nevermore Academy set. You’ll have to press play on the footage, above, to see what other secrets and surprises lurk in the behind-the-scenes glimpse.
Zeta-Jones’ words echo those of co-showrunners Miles Millar and Al Gough. “We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore,” they told Tudum in January 2023. “We just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”
So what’s ahead for everyone’s favorite storm cloud? And which new characters are joining Wednesday on her upcoming adventures? Keep reading for a complete Nevermore syllabus’ worth of Wednesday Season 2 news.
What is Wednesday Season 2 about?
The series will continue to chart the supernatural mysteries of Wednesday Addams as she attends Nevermore Academy. When Wednesday Season 2 was renewed in January 2023, the show promised more “torture” ahead in an announcement video. Naturally — super sleuth Wednesday wouldn’t have it any other way.
“[Wednesday] sticks to her guns, and she’s not out to please anybody,” Ortega told Tudum in February 2023. “Which, as someone who used to be an immense people pleaser, I really respect.”
It’s clear Ortega isn’t the only one who’s come to admire Wednesday’s teenage take on the Addams family’s only daughter. In July 2023, the series was nominated for 12 Primetime Emmy Awards.
“It’s been incredible to create a show that’s connected with people across the world,” Millar and Gough said in January. “We’re thrilled to continue Wednesday’s torturous journey into Season 2.”
