Warning: this article contains spoilers for The Madness
Netflix’s recent series The Madness has quickly become one of the streaming services’ most popular shows, and The Madness’s ending leaves several questions open that could lead to further action and suspense for Muncie Daniels in season 2. The series follows Colman Domingo’s Muncie Daniels when he is framed for murder after being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In the ensuing madness, Muncie works to clear his name by finding the people who are ultimately responsible for the chain of events while at the same time attempting to reconnect with his family.
Along with Domingo’s Muncie Daniels, The Madness’s cast gives some incredible performances that help to elevate the suspense. Currently holding a 76% on Rotten Tomatoes, the series has already been praised for these performances and how it slowly unravels its twisted conspiracy. With such a gripping plot, it only makes sense that audiences have already begun to wonder whether Muncie Daniels will return for season 2, and the series finale points to several ways that he could come back.
Muncie’s The Madness Season 2 Return Could See Him Become The Biggest Suspect For Kraintz’s Murder
Despite Clearing His Name In The Season Finale, Muncie Could Become Involved In Finding Kraintz’s Killer
In The Madness season 1 finale, Muncie knows that Rodney Kraintz was truly behind everything, and he announces this on live TV, shocking viewers. Additionally, The Madness’ Muncie Daniels debates killing Rodney Kraintz but ultimately decides against revenge, though Rodney is then killed by a far-right extremist. While Muncie did not commit the murder, he could become a suspect because of his past threats to Rodney and his decision to out his crimes on TV.
“Through this action, The Madness season 2 could see Muncie thrust into danger again, either as a suspect in Rodney’s murder or as an aid to further FBI investigation, similar to how he aided Agent Quinones in season 1”
Even though Muncie’s name is clear, by publicly announcing that Rodney had Mark Simon killed, both Muncie and Rodney became targets. Through this action, The Madness season 2 could see Muncie thrust into danger again, either as a suspect in Rodney’s murder or as an aid to further FBI investigation, similar to how he aided Agent Quinones in season 1. Furthermore, as Rodney pointed out to Muncie, there will always be other companies doing the same things Revitalize did, meaning that the conspiracy could go even deeper.
Will The Madness Season 2 Happen? What The Cast & Crew Have Said After Season 1’s Netflix Success
Season 2 Is Unconfirmed, But Colman Domingo Has Voiced His Support For It
Sadly, Netflix has not yet confirmed whether The Madness will return for a second season. However, Colman Domingo has already voiced his interest in playing Muncie Daniels again in season 2, and the show’s ambiguous ending makes this return possible. Evidently, there is more that the series can do with Muncie’s character, as his journey doesn’t feel quite complete.
Domingo has stated that he feels that Muncie could still have more to say in a future season that would add to his character growth throughout season 1 (via Deadline). The Madness is also a very timely show that, despite its more dramatic fictional aspects, touches on a lot of problems that exist in the US today. Since leading man Colman Domingo has expressed this interest in continuing Muncie’s story, it could be interesting to see how the character continues to evolve and grow in a potential season 2 of The Madness.
