From Rain’s fate in the hospital to Mallory’s relationship with Calvin, there are a lot of unanswered questions and lingering plot threads from Beauty in Black season 1 that season 2 has to pick up. Beauty in Black season 1 ended with the most thrilling, action-packed episode yet. It opened with a shootout at a safe house and ended with a brutal brawl in a parking lot. Kimmie and Angel are on the run, Mallory’s hair care empire is in legal trouble, and Rain is in the hospital, still recovering from surgical complications.
Netflix has already renewed Beauty in Black for an eight-episode second season. As a trailer that appeared at the end of the season 1 finale promised, the Beauty in Black cast will be back on the small screen in the spring of 2025. And it’s a good thing that Tyler Perry’s soap opera is coming back so soon, because season 1 left a lot of loose ends and cliffhangers. It ended with a kidnapping, a vicious fist fight, and a sports car in flames, so season 2 has a lot to answer for.
What Will Horace Do About The Attempted Robbery?
The season 1 finale got off to an explosive start with an attempted robbery on Horace’s safe house. After a group of masked assailants broke in and forced him to open the safe under the bed, Horace pulled out a rifle and gunned them all down. Although he initially suspected that Kimmie and Angel were in on the heist, they managed to convince him of their innocence and he let them go. Later on, Jules came over to clean up the crime scene and Horace questioned him about the corrupt judge on his payroll, Harold Wiscollins.
It seems unlikely that someone as vengeful and vindictive as Horace would let this attempted robbery slide. By asking after the crooked judge, he seems to have a nefarious scheme up his sleeve. Jules determined that the robbery was carried out by the same people who delivered his safe; they came back to rob it. Now that Horace knows who’s responsible, what will he do to get back at them?
Will Lena Blow The Whistle On Mallory’s Company?
Lena is a lawyer with enough dirt on Mallory’s hair care empire to bring the whole enterprise down. Mallory is already worried that Lena will take her to court and destroy her company. In the season 1 finale, both Mallory and Roy separately met with Lena to offer her a job in the company’s legal department. They’re hoping that if they give her a job with a hefty salary within the company, she’ll drop her case against the company.
Unfortunately for them, Lena insists that she can’t be bought; she has a little thing called integrity. Season 1 leaves this as an open end. Lena hasn’t taken any legal action against the company yet, but she’s primed to do so in season 2 — and now that they’ve tried to bribe her out of it, she has even more to incriminate them with.
Who Blew Up Charles’ Car?
In the penultimate episode of Beauty in Black season 1, Charles’ car was blown up by a group of masked men. They looked like the same group that tried to rob Horace’s safe, but balaclavas and all-black clothing are a pretty standard outfit for professional criminals, so they might be two unrelated groups. The leading theory is that Charles’ car was blown up by Norman in retaliation for Ina’s death. Charles is Horace’s son, and it’s likely that he just got caught up as collateral damage in the bitter feud between Horace and Norman.
But season 1 didn’t provide any solid answers about who destroyed Charles’ car and why they did it. In the season 1 finale, Mallory finds Charles’ car in flames on the private road, with police and paramedics investigating the scene of the incident. She demands answers, but they haven’t gotten to the bottom of it yet. Season 2 needs to finally elaborate on this twist.
Will Rain Recover From Her Surgical Complications?
Midway through Beauty in Black season 1, Rain was hospitalized. Desperate for cash, she decided to get a cosmetic surgery to improve her looks and hopefully generate more income at the club. However, during the procedure, the products used interacted with her asthma medication and caused medical complications. At the end of season 1, Rain is still in the hospital, recovering from these complications. Kimmie and Angel pay her a visit, but she doesn’t seem to be any closer to getting back on her feet.
Season 2 will have to reveal Rain’s fate. Either she’ll recover from her surgical complications and get back to the club, or she’ll ultimately pass away. Rain is one of Beauty in Black’s most lovable characters, so it would be heartbreaking if she gets killed off, but either way, season 2 will have to show her fate.
Why Did The Hospital Staff Tell Kimmie That Rain Was Dead?
As soon as Rain was hospitalized, Kimmie started visiting her as often as she could. Her bosses at the club didn’t like this, because if she was visiting her friend in the hospital, she wasn’t making them any money. One day, when Kimmie went to see Rain at the hospital, she found that she was no longer in her bed, and the staff told her that Rain had died. Kimmie instantly suspected that her shady bosses had something to do with it.
However, in the season 1 finale, Kimmie is surprised to learn that Rain is still alive; she was just moved to a different hospital. She goes to see her at the new hospital and it turns out she’s fine, albeit still recovering. But the question remains: why did the staff at the first hospital tell Kimmie that Rain was dead? It’s still possible that Kimmie’s bosses were involved in moving Rain to a new hospital, and they could still have something dark planned for her.
Will Mallory & Calvin Get Together?
Throughout Beauty in Black season 1, Mallory had a steamy affair with her chauffeur, Calvin. In the season finale, Calvin confessed that he had real feelings for Mallory beyond just lust. He fell for her, but she rejected a proper romantic relationship with him. It seemed as though Mallory was reluctant to embrace her feelings for Calvin because he’s just a driver — a working man — but Mallory doesn’t seem like the type to judge someone based on their class. She’s extremely wealthy now, but she mentions that she came from humble beginnings.
It could just be that Mallory doesn’t feel anything more than lust for Calvin, so she doesn’t want a more serious relationship with him. Either way, season 2 will have to follow up on this. Either Mallory will accept her feelings for Calvin and get into a real relationship with him, or she’ll reject him and their working relationship will become very complicated.
Will Kimmie Be Able To Save Sylvia?
On their way out of town, Kimmie and Angel were stopped by Body. Body mistakenly believed that Kimmie was trying to usurp her place at the club, so she concocted a scheme to blackmail her. Body revealed that she’d had Kimmie’s teenage sister Sylvia kidnapped. A car pulled up with Sylvia restrained in the backseat. Before Kimmie could step in to save her younger sister, the car pulled away and Body told Kimmie that she’d have to do what she said or her sister would face the consequences.
Body was hoping to use the kidnapping to blackmail Kimmie, but it backfired immediately. Rather than bowing to Body’s demands, Kimmie just started beating her up. The teaser for season 2 (included at the end of the season 1 finale) showed Kimmie on a warpath trying to find and rescue her sister. Will she be able to save her?
Is Body Dead?
During her fight with Body, Kimmie punched her repeatedly, slammed her into a car door, and seemed to have the upper hand. But then, Body pulled out a knife and waved it around in Kimmie and Angel’s faces, threatening to stab them if they didn’t back off. Of course, with her sister’s life on the line, Kimmie refused to back off. She got in her car, slammed her foot down on the gas, and drove it right into Body.
Body brought a knife to a fist fight, so Kimmie brought a car to a knife fight. The season finale cut to black shortly after Kimmie rammed Body with her car, so it’s unclear if Body survived the crash. But since she was crushed between two different cars, it seems unlikely that she could survive it. Season 2 will have to reveal whether Body is alive or dead.
Will Jules Come After Kimmie & Angel?
When Body first confronts Kimmie and Angel, she threatens to call Jules and send him after them. Jules is one of the most dangerous and well-connected characters in the show, so this isn’t a threat to be taken lightly. Based on everything that happened in the scene that followed, there’s a good chance that Jules will come after Kimmie and Angel in Beauty in Black season 2.
Kimmie and Angel are planning to skip out on their commitments to the club and leave town, which Jules, their pimp, won’t be too happy about. They were at Horace’s safe house during the robbery, which Jules has been tasked with clearing up. And on top of that, if Body is still alive, she’ll surely make good on her threat to recruit Jules’ services after being hit by a car. Beauty in Black season 2 has a lot of questions to answer, but this is one of the most pressing.
