Maya Henry had started legal proceedings against her former fiancé Liam Payne just days before the former One Direction star sadly died after falling from a hotel balcony.
Liam Payne’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry had accused him of repeatedly contacting her and started legal proceedings against him just days before he died, according to reports.
The former One Direction singer was just 31 years old when he tragically died on Wednesday night after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Liam had been in the country for a concert performance by his former bandmate Niall Horan.
Just days before Liam’s death, Maya’s lawyers issued a cease-and-desist letter to Liam on her behalf. Her legal team said in a statement: “Maya Henry issued a cease and desist last week to Liam Payne following the emergence of new and concerning information.”
The statement, which was shared with The Daily Mail, continued: “She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter.”
Earlier this month, Maya took to TikTok and accused Liam of going to extreme lengths to contact her after their breakup. She also accused the singer of “weaponizing” his fanbase against her.
In the video, she claimed: “Ever since we broke up, he messages me, will blow up my phone, not only from his phone number, it’s always from different phone numbers too, so I never know where it’s gonna come from”
“He’ll create new iCloud accounts to iMessage me — it’s always a damn new iCloud account. Every time I see one pop up on my phone I’m like, ‘Here we f—— go again’.” Maya also claimed Liam would email her and “blow up my mom’s phone.”
Maya and Liam first started dating in 2018 after the One Direction star split from Cheryl Tweedy. Liam popped the question in 2020, but their relationship ended in April 2022. Their split was tumultuous as Maya accused Liam of cheating on her.
Following Liam’s tragic death, a source has said that Maya is in “shock”. They told The Daily Mail: “Right now she is obviously in shock.”
The model is believed to have found out about Liam’s death after a member of her team was contacted by a reporter. Liam suffered “very serious injuries incompatible with life” following his fall.
In a statement, the local ambulance manager told TN: “At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel.
“There is an internal courtyard where the victim fell, with tables and chairs: the hotel’s confectionery shop operates there. The space has a retractable roof that was open at the time. Fortunately, there were no other people there.”
