The Lincoln Lawyer is back for season three with actress Becki Newton returning to the Netflix hit.
The Lincoln Lawyer season three is now available for binge-watching, with Becki Newton returning to charm audiences in the popular Netflix series.
Becki Newton reprises her role as Lorna Crane, Mickey Haller’s (portrayed by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) second ex-wife and office manager, in the latest instalment that premiered on Netflix last month.
As speculation about a fourth season swirls, fans are eager to delve into the 46-year-old actress’s life when she’s not dazzling on screen.
Early days
Newton’s journey began in Guilford, Connecticut, where she started acting at the tender age of 13, participating in local theatre and summer stock before earning her degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
In 2000, Newton took a leap and moved to New York City to chase Broadway dreams, landing several roles in national commercials along the way.
Her transition to television saw her making guest appearances on shows like ‘Law and Order SVU’, ‘American Dreams’, and ‘Cold Case’.
It was in 2006 that Newton secured her breakout role as Amanda Tanen in the ABC comedy-drama ‘Ugly Betty’, a part she would inhabit for four seasons.
Famous family
Off-screen, Newton’s personal life is just as interesting, married to Canadian actor Chris Diamantopoulos, known for his role as Russ Hannerman in HBO’s ‘Silicon Valley’.
Their love story began with an impromptu invitation at the Times Square subway station, where he charmingly asked her to see him perform in ‘The Full Monty’.
Reflecting on the encounter with New York Magazine, Newton shared: “It could have been creepy but it was so cute!”
The couple tied the knot in 2005 and have four children together, with their youngest daughter arriving in 2022.
Interestingly, Newton’s husband isn’t the only famous figure in her family, as her first cousin once removed is actress Sienna Miller, known for her roles in American Sniper, Layer Cake, Alfie, Stardust, The Edge Of Love, and Netflix’s Anatomy Of A Scandal.
In a 2015 interview with People, Newton revealed: “I didn’t find out until a few years ago that her dad is my grandmother’s brother.
“She grew up in the UK, so she was never at any of our family gatherings.”
How I Met Your Mother
Newton’s notable roles include Ugly Betty and The Lincoln Lawyer, as well as her portrayal of Quinn, the love interest of Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris), in the popular comedy series How I Met Your Mother.
Rather than waiting for an audition, Newton took the initiative and pitched the idea of her character to the show’s creators.
As she explained to TV Guide: “I was watching the show and I thought to myself, ‘I would love to play a female version of Barney. And more than that, I would love to play off Neil Patrick Harris.'”
“I think they’d been toying with the idea of a love interest for Barney, so it was a great coincidence that I went in and pitched myself for it.
“I told them my dream and I’m so grateful that they didn’t think I was totally insane! And a few months later, it all came ‘true’ and now I’m Quinn.”
